Great Grandfather is wanting a recipe for a butter pecan flavoring to ad to his ensure. Any sugg.?
They do not sell pecan extracts or oil where we live. We are not sure how to get the butter pecan flavor.
This sounds really good and will probably work. Ensure's not sounding so bad right now.
Butter Pecan Syrup
2 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cups water
1/3 cup dark corn syrup
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon rum extract
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
Directions:
1. Mix the sugar, water and corn syrup together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring as needed.
2. Add the butter, extract, and nuts and stir.
Serve hot.
If you can't get corn syrup, use honey.
